This is a press release issued by the American Motorcyclist Association
The American Motorcyclist Association has announced that pre-registration for the 2023 Mission Foods AMA Flat Track Grand Championship is now open.
Those looking to race in the national championship event that runs June 14-20 at the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds in Du Quoin, Ill., can pre-register at https://secure.tracksideprereg.com/ftgc/?event=3.
“The Mission Foods AMA Flat Track Grand Championship is the premier amateur flat track event in the country,” said AMA Track Racing Manager Ken Saillant. “In anticipation of the action-packed seven-day event, we hope racers take advantage of the discounted rate offered with pre-registration.”
Along with the time saved at the track checking in, pre-registered riders will save money, with discounted fees for the AMA Flat Track Grand Championship at $80 per class — $20 off the price of regular entry.
Wristbands for gate entry can be purchased for $15 per day or $75 for the entire week. Pit bike passes are $20. Both can be purchased online in advance of the event.
Riders who pre-register before the May 31 deadline will also have their names printed on a special 2023 Mission Foods AMA Flat Track Grand Championship T-shirt.
The AMA promotes and operates the most prestigious amateur flat track event in the country. Hosting different ages and classes, the Mission Foods AMA Flat Track Grand Championship — an event that traces its roots to 1975 — offers the only chance to earn an AMA National No. 1 plate in amateur flat track racing.
The annual event includes four disciplines of flat track racing: Short Track, TT, Mile and Half-Mile.
In addition to AMA National No. 1 plates, the Nicky Hayden AMA Flat Track Horizon Award — given to the most promising amateur rider on the verge of transitioning to the professional ranks — will be awarded following the seven days of racing. The AMA Fast Brain Award, AMA Vet/Senior Racer of the Year and AMA Youth Racer of the Year will also be announced.
American Flat Track (AFT) will bring pro-level action on Saturday, June 17, with a Grand National Mile where the sport’s stars will take to Du Quoin’s legendary “Magic Mile.”
